Toronto lives here - Soccer and Protesters

Every day in Toronto is unique. It is one of the reasons I love the city so much. I love to walk through the downtown core and discover new streets and neighbourhoods. Each area has it's own distinctive flavour and even areas you know well can surprise you! On this day I saw a protest and enjoyed Soccer Central, an outdoor street party with hundreds of people watching the match between Germany and Uruguay.

The other great thing about Toronto is multiculturalism. You realize this most in a World Cup year, when people celebrate in the streets no matter which country wins! I'll be posting my World Cup celebration photos next!

Visit Toronto

Recently I was paid a visit by a university friend from Liverpool. We only had an afternoon, so I had to show him what I could in that time. Here are the photos from the day in Toronto. :)

G20 - Toronto

With the G20 taking place in Toronto this weekend I thought I would get a few photos of the immense security preparations.

I was lucky enough to capture a practice motorcade session and a couple of police officers who posed for a picture on their quad bikes. Enjoy!

Doors Open Toronto 2010

I almost skipped Doors Open Toronto this year because I have visited most of the places I had on my list in previous years. I met up with a friend who hadn't visited the best places and so I re-visited those. The photos below are just a few I took along the way - most of which can be visited any time! Toronto's City Hall opened up a new public space on the mid-section of the building called Green Roof. Once the plants start to flower in the summer I am sure it will look amazing.

Bayfront Park Fireworks

I recently visited Bayfront Park in Hamilton for a fireworks show. Apparently it is a competition between two or three groups who try to out-do each other in creating a display to music. The catch is that each group can only use fireworks that you can buy in the stores and not professional ones. Most of the shots, with the exception of some demonstrations, show commercially available fireworks which you could buy if you had lots of money! Alternatively you can watch the slide-show below!
